By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in the Orange Walk District have arrested and charged two men for public drinking after they were caught consuming alcohol in front of a local store on Saturday evening, November 8, 2025.
According to reports, around 5:40 p.m., a police officer was conducting a mobile patrol on the Main Street of Guinea Grass Village when he observed two male individuals drinking from brown beer bottles in front of Double G Store.
The officer approached the men, informed them of the offence committed, and escorted both individuals—along with the evidence—to the Guinea Grass Police Sub-Station for processing.
At the station, the men were identified as Jair Zair Bustillos, 23, a construction worker, and Deodoro Aurelio Garcia, 39, also a construction worker, both residents of Guinea Grass Village. The beer bottles were sealed and labeled in their presence as part of the investigation.
Police later formally arrested and charged both Bustillos and Garcia for the offence of public drinking.
Authorities continue to remind the public that consuming alcohol in public spaces remains an offence under Belizean law and that enforcement efforts are being heightened to maintain order in communities across the country.
