Concepcion vegetable farmers get new boost through IICA agreement

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): IICA Belize and the Concepcion Vegetable Farmers’ Cooperative Society Ltd. have signed an agreement to implement a project aimed at strengthening the cooperative’s capacity and value chain.

The agreement was signed on August 26 by Willie Chan, Acting IICA Representative in Belize, and Orlando Ek, President of the Cooperative.

The initiative was selected for financing through the Non-Reimbursable Capital Fund for Territorial Initiatives.

It will strengthen the cooperative’s productive, organisational and commercial capacities while supporting family farming and improved food and nutrition security.

The project forms part of regional efforts led by SE-CAC in collaboration with IICA, financed by the Spain-SICA Regional Cooperation Programme.

IICA Belize says it is pleased to support initiatives that strengthen rural communities and promote sustainable agricultural development in the country.
