By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 38 year old unemployed man of Concepcion Village has been charged with theft after a sack of onions was taken from a village stall.
According to the report, a 23 year old businesswoman was driving to her stall in the village around 7:30am on Sunday, August 23, when she saw a man about 30 feet away running from the stall with a sack on his back.
She told police the man was barefoot, dressed in a black t-shirt and blue jeans, and that she recognised him as someone she has known for over 10 years who has stolen from her on several previous occasions.
She followed him, but he escaped through the bushes with the sack when he noticed her.
Checks at her cultivation behind the stall showed one 50 pound sack of yellow onions missing, valued at $100.
She made the formal report on Tuesday after learning he was in police custody.
Amir Pineda had been detained on August 29 in connection with a separate theft. He was formally charged in this matter on Tuesday and chose to remain silent.
