By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Costa Rica and Haiti delivered a six-goal spectacle in Group C, drawing 3–3 in a match full of momentum swings at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica, on Tuesday.
Costa Rica struck early through Kenneth Vargas (1’) and Alonso Martínez (35’) to take a 2–0 lead into halftime. Duckens Nazon then turned the match on its head with a second-half hat-trick for Haiti, scoring in the 55th, 58th, and 86th minutes. Juan Pablo Vargas salvaged a point for the hosts with a stoppage-time equalizer in the 90+1’.
Meanwhile in Tegucigalpa, Honduras secured a 2–0 win over Nicaragua to climb into contention. All three teams—Costa Rica, Haiti, and Honduras—now sit on four points, setting up a tense October window.
The winner of each group qualifies directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The two best second-place teams advance to the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026.
