By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) ran over Turks and Caicos Islands 3-0 in their final Group B match of the Concacaf Nations League C, finishing at the top of the group with 12 points and without conceding a single goal.
Belize had already secured a spot to compete in League B next year. The BMNT also earned a berth in the Concacaf Gold Cup Play-In, where they will compete against French Guiana, the Best League A 6th Place team for a shot at the Gold Cup Preliminary Round (Prelims).
Jordy Polanco opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a header off an assist by Rene Leslie. This was Polanco’s fourth goal in this year’s Concacaf Nations League. Moises Hernandez struck the second goal in the 40th minute with a shot from outside the penalty box, and Krisean Lopez converted the third in the 57th minute with a strike from inside the goal area.
Belize had 65 percent possession over Turks and Caicos Islands.
Belize are joined in their qualification to League B and the Gold Cup Play-In by Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, and the Cayman Islands.
