By Zoila Palma: On December 18, 2025, the National Community Policing Unit, alongside the Taiwanese Embassy and the British High Commission hosted their annual Christmas gift-sharing event.
The event included the sharing of gifts with over 100 children from vulnerable communities across the Belize District.
“We shared love, hope, and the reassurance that they are seen and valued. For some children, this gift was more than a present; it showed that while they may not have received from others, the Community Policing Unit made a deliberate effort to stand with them and ensure they were cared for,” Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett said.
“Moments like these remind us that community policing is not only about protection, but about presence—walking alongside our communities with empathy and care. When we give together year after year, we strengthen the bonds that keep our society safe, united, and hopeful, ensuring that the spirit of Christmas lives on long after the season ends,” he added.
