Cocaine seized in nightclub arrest goes missing inside police station in Orange Walk

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have launched an internal investigation following the disappearance of cocaine seized during a previous arrest, which was later recovered inside a police station in Orange Walk.

On Monday, January 26, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., officers were attempting to locate an exhibit linked to the detention and arrest of Henry Abimael Mojic, who was allegedly found with 17 grams of cocaine while entering a nightclub on January 18, 2026.

During the search for the exhibit, police discovered that the drugs were missing from custody. Surveillance cameras inside the police station were subsequently reviewed as part of the inquiry.

Following the review of the footage, a uniformed police officer who was on duty as the station diarist was searched, and the missing cocaine was reportedly recovered.

Authorities have confirmed that the matter is now under investigation as police examine how the drugs went missing while in custody.
