Coast to sizzle, inland to swelter: Belize braces for hot weekend

By Horace Palacio: Residents and visitors in Belize can expect a warm and predominantly dry weekend, according to the latest forecast issued by the National Meteorological Service on Saturday, June 1st, 2024.

Forecaster Francisca Wellington predicts sunny spells with occasional cloud cover throughout Saturday, transitioning to partly cloudy skies during the night. While isolated showers are possible, these will primarily affect the southern regions of the country.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to reach a high of 90°F (32°C) and a low of 83°F (28°C), while inland areas will see highs of 98°F (37°C) and lows of 75°F (24°C). Hilly regions can anticipate slightly cooler temperatures, with highs of 84°F (29°C) and lows of 68°F (20°C).

Boaters and those enjoying water activities should be aware of moderate sea conditions, with easterly winds blowing at 10-20 knots and waves reaching 4-6 feet.

The warm and dry conditions are expected to persist through Sunday and Sunday night, with little to no rainfall anticipated.

For those interested in tidal patterns, high tides are expected at 5:29 AM and 6:09 PM on Saturday, while low tides will occur at 12:07 PM and 11:59 PM. The sun will rise at 5:17 AM and set at 6:24 PM, with the moon setting at 1:49 PM on Saturday and rising again at 2:01 AM on Sunday.

Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions to protect themselves from the sun during this warm weather period.
