City and Town Councils dissolve as country prepares for Municipal Elections

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Municipalities across Belize are preparing for the March 6, 2024 Municipal elections.

Today, as it stipulated by law, the last day of February, the city and Town councils across the country are being dissolved.

This means that as of today, the Mayor and Councilors are without authority and the Town Administrator is the head of the council until the new council is elected and sworn in.

The major political parties, PUP and UDP have endorsed their municipal candidates contesting the March 6 elections.
