Yesterday, July 1st, 2025, at the Citrus Products of Belize Limited (CPBL) Head Office in Pomona, Stann Creek Valley, Stann Creek District, the Labour Department attested the signing of a four-year Subsidiary Workers Agreement between CPBL and nearly 300 subsidiary workers.
Present at the signing ceremony were members of CPBL Management; a representative from each subsidiary; and representatives from the Labour Department, including Commissioner Rissela Dominguez-Patt, Senior Labour Officer Aniki Palacio, and Labour Officers from Dangriga and Independence.
CPBL’s CEO, Mr. Lennox Neal, and CFO, Mr. Eugene Cleland, signed on behalf of the company. Ms. Carmencita Ávila, Group Agriculture Manager, signed on behalf of the workers, and Commissioner Dominguez-Patt signed on behalf of the Labour Department. This agreement is effective January 1st, 2023, and will remain in force through December 31st, 2026.
The Agreement covers staff at Barton Creek Farms Limited, XYZ, Belize Food Products Groves, and Citrus Company of Belize, supporting both agricultural and composting operations. Key enhancements include clearly defined employment benefits, structured work schedules, job classifications, promotion pathways, employee representation frameworks, and performance-linked incentive systems, establishing improved workplace standards and encouraging cooperative labour relations throughout CPBL’s subsidiaries
Labour Commissioner Dominguez-Patt commended the shared commitment of management and workers, emphasizing that this agreement represents a mutual commitment in establishing respectful labor relations within the agriculture sector.
