Child dies and mother in critical condition as victims of house fire named

By Aaron Humes: A house fire reported on Friday in Belize City has claimed one life.

According to police, Malika August was listed in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

Further checks were made at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where medical personnel confirmed that Jayden August passed away and was pronounced dead on Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out on Friday morning and Malika and Jayden August reportedly suffered burns as they escaped the burning structure.
