Chevening scholar Alexia Mai targets Environmental solutions through studies at University of Birmingham

By Zoila Palma:  The British High Commission in Belmopan is highlighting Chevening scholar Alexia Mai who is studying at the University of Birmingham.

Mai says that the studies is providing her with the skills she needs to tackle environmental challenges in Belize.

Mai has been deeply engaged in climate advocacy and youth leadership in Belize.

 ‘Growing up in Belize, a country on the frontlines of hurricanes, sea level rise, and extreme weather, shaped my passion for weather, science, and protecting those most at risk from climate change…’

‘My time at the University of Birmingham has been an exhilarating experience… I’ve had the opportunity to develop my problem-solving and analytical skills and gain practical experience in applying mathematical and statistical analysis to real-world meteorological and climatological issues’ Mai explained.

Mai is pursuing a Master’s in Applied Meteorology and Climatology at the University of Birmingham.
