By Zoila Palma: Over the weekend, police in Chetumal conducted operations and during a trafficking ring bust, freed 26 women including a Belizean.
According to Quinta Fuerza, the victims of trafficking were found in Chetumal, Quintana Roo.
Mexican police arrested 3 men in connection with the case.
In addition, the police found evidence of drugs being sold at 5 establishments where they were suspected victims of human trafficking being prostituted.
Police also seized narcotics believed to be cocaine.
Nationalities of the women include Mexican, Colombian, Argentinian, Guatemalan and Belizean who were sex workers.
The women were reportedly paid 3,100 pesos, of which 1,600 went to the establishment and the remainder went to themselves, the report said.
Police investigations continue.
