By Breaking Belize News Staff: On December 10, 2024, Channel 7 issued an apology to San Ignacio businessman Passy Haylock who launched the “Just a Dollar” initiative to assist victims of the horrific accident that claimed 10 lives.

Channel 7 had aired an interview with Virna Manzanero, a family member of accident victim Roduel Genesis Parham.

“She expressed that they are grateful for any assistance with funeral costs.

But our headline suggested that they “hadn’t gotten any money yet” – which the family did not express or imply in any way.  We were wrong to make such an inference in the headline and we apologize,” the company said.

The initiative raised over $25,000 and each family received $2140.50.
