By Horace Palacio: Chandra Nisbet Cansino, the current CEO of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), is reportedly set to become the new Chair of the Social Security Board (SSB). Sources indicate that Prime Minister John Briceño has approved her appointment as part of a broader wave of high-level changes under the second term of the Briceño Administration.
Cansino will take over from Nigeli Sosa, who held the post since late 2020. With over two decades of experience at the Social Security Board and her more recent leadership at KHMH, Cansino is expected to bring both institutional knowledge and administrative expertise to the role.
Her appointment follows a period of instability, with the sudden departure of former SSB CEO Leroy Almendarez in January.
