By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Central Bank of Belize has announced key financial policy updates following the Government’s implementation of the Free Movement Regime for nationals of Barbados, Dominica, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
As of October 1, 2025, citizens of these three CARICOM member states who receive an “indefinite stay” endorsement on their passports can now live, work, and access banking services in Belize without the restrictions previously imposed on foreign nationals.
The Central Bank confirmed that these CARICOM nationals will now have the same access to local currency accounts, property transactions, and business opportunities as resident Belizeans. However, Belizeans transferring funds to the three participating countries for migration purposes will still need Central Bank approval.
To ensure smooth implementation, all banks and financial institutions have been instructed to update internal compliance policies and train staff accordingly.
The Central Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Belize’s regional integration efforts while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
“This initiative is a progressive step in deepening regional cooperation,” the Central Bank noted, adding that it will improve financial inclusivity for CARICOM nationals while keeping Belize’s financial system strong and transparent.
