By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Volleyball Team will play against Nicaragua at 4:30 pm on Friday, October 11, in their first game of the 20th Central American U-21 Men’s AFECAVOL Championship.
The regional tournament is being held at the Papa Francisco Gymnasium in Chitré, Panama, from Friday, October 11 to Thursday, October 17.
Guatemala and El Salvador will open the tournament at 3:00 pm (2:00 pm Bze). Nicaragua will then play Belize at 5:30 pm (4:30 pm Bze), and hosts Panama will close against Honduras at 8:00 pm (7:00 pm Bze).
All seven Central American countries are competing in this 20th edition, which dates to 1981. Since then, Guatemala has won eight championships. According to the Central American Association of Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL), Costa Rica and Nicaragua have each won the crown three times, El Salvador and Panama have triumphed twice, and Honduras once. Belize is the only country yet to win this tournament.
Guatemala won the last edition held in Nicaragua in 2022, with Nicaragua capturing silver and Panama taking bronze.
Three matches will be 
played daily.
