Central American Games: Nain Rosado, Ailton Linarez win bronze in Men’s 8-Ball Team Billiards

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize have added another medal to their tally at the Central American Games, clinching bronze in the Men’s 8-Ball Team billiards competition. The duo of Nain Jorge Rosado and Ailton Razak Linarez secured the podium finish after a strong campaign that ended in a 6–2 semifinal loss to Costa Rica.

Despite the setback, the team’s performance earned Belize a share of third place alongside Nicaragua, who fell 6–5 to Guatemala in the other semifinal. Guatemala’s Luis Lemus and Ecverest López went on to win gold with a 6–4 victory over Costa Rica.

The official results confirmed the standings:

• 1st Place: Luis Lemus & Ecverest López (Guatemala)
• 2nd Place: Laurens Castro & Erick Téllez (Costa Rica)
• 3rd Place: Edwin Rojas & Erick King (Nicaragua)
• 3rd Place: Nain Rosado & Ailton Linarez (Belize

For Rosado, the bronze marks his third medal of the tournament. He previously captured gold in the 9-Ball Team event with Immer Lima and earned bronze in the 9-Ball Individual, consolidating his status as one of Belize’s standout cueists.

With this result, billiards now accounts for five of Belize’s 13 medals—surpassing canoeing, which has four. The sport continues to shine as a key contributor to the national delegation’s success.
