The event began at 7:00 a.m. under heavy rainfall, testing the endurance and focus of all participants. The triathlon format featured three legs:
- 750 meters of open-water swimming
- 20 kilometers of cycling
- 5 kilometers of road running

Belize’s Ana Lopez Wilburn placed 17th in the women’s triathlon, completing the course in 1:39:19.438. She was one of 19 athletes who started and finished the race on Wednesday, October 22, in Amatique Bay, Izabal, Guatemala, under torrential rain.
Guatemala’s Marlen Alejandra Aguilar Bolaños led from start to finish, claiming gold in 1:09:16.129. Costa Rica’s Catalina Torres earned silver in 1:09:39.291, while Honduras’ Julia María Alcalá Rosales took bronze with a time of 1:09:54.775. All competitors completed the 750-meter open-water swim, 20-kilometer cycling leg, and 5-kilometer run.

In the men’s division, Belize’s Mauro Cucul finished 14th in 1:21:46.749, while Kian Trejo placed 16th in 1:26:49.859. Of the 20 registered male athletes, 17 started and 16 completed the race. One Guatemalan triathlete did not finish.
Costa Rica’s Álvaro Campos captured gold in 1:03:10.905, followed by teammate David Hernández with silver in 1:03:43.287. Guatemala’s Jorge Raúl Cabinal thrilled the home crowd by securing bronze in 1:03:53.515.

Although the triathlon continues Friday, October 24, with the mixed relay format—featuring teams of two women and two men—Belize will not be participating in that event, as the delegation includes only one female triathlete.
