Belize opened their campaign on Friday with a 17–1 defeat to El Salvador, marking their return to regional competition after a 12-year absence. Despite the scoreline, the match signalled a new chapter for Belize Softball, with the national side proudly back on the international stage.
Saturday saw Belize suffer an 8–1 loss to Nicaragua in the morning, but they bounced back with a spirited performance against Honduras. Trailing throughout, Belize drew level 6–6 in the sixth inning before unleashing a powerful offensive surge in the final frame to secure a 10–6 victory in a gripping three-hour contest.
On Sunday, Belize were outpaced by Panama, who claimed a 13–3 win. That result leaves Belize with one win and three losses heading into Monday’s clash against host nation Guatemala.
- Friday, 24 Oct – vs El Salvador
- Saturday, 25 Oct – vs Nicaragua
- Saturday, 25 Oct – vs Honduras
- Sunday, 26 Oct – vs Panama
- Monday, 27 Oct – vs Guatemala
The tournament follows a round-robin format leading into Paige System playoffs. While Belize are unlikely to progress, today’s match offers a chance to close the group stage with pride and momentum.
Belize have shown dogged determination throughout, and their return to international competition has rekindled interest in the sport and inspired future athletes.
