Belize’s Men’s National Basketball Team will face Panama in the semifinals of the XII Central American Games Guatemala 2025 on Tuesday evening, after powering through the group stage with three straight victories and rising margins of dominance.
The semifinal tips off at 5:30 pm at the Gimnasio Nacional Teodoro Palacios Flores in Guatemala City. Panama, a formidable and well-drilled squad, will test Belize’s momentum and composure as both teams vie for a spot in Wednesday’s gold medal final.
Nicaragua will take on Guatemala in the other semifinal at 8:00 pm.
Belize earned their place atop Group B with a perfect 3–0 record:
Saturday, October 25: Belize 83–68 El Salvador- Sunday, October 26: Belize 72–43 Guatemala
- Monday, October 27: Belize 93–47 Honduras
Monday’s 46-point blowout over Honduras was Belize’s most emphatic performance yet. Jason Orosco led the scoring charge with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Ian Parham was the heartbeat of both ends posting 17 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists, dictating tempo and cleaning up the glass. Tevaughan Dawson added 12 points and 6 boards, continuing his steady impact across the tournament. Captain Devin Moody and Kelvin Cumberbatch combined for 17 points and 15 rebounds, with Moody stepping into a playmaker role, dishing out 4 assists and anchoring the team’s rhythm. Off the bench, Mischack Flowers delivered a breakout performance, scoring a career-high 15 points in just 14 minutes.
Grouped with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, Belize blended high-tempo offense with disciplined defense, limiting opponents’ scoring while capitalizing on fast breaks and perimeter shooting. Their increasing margins — 15, 29, then 46 points — reflect a squad growing in confidence and cohesion.
Tournament organizers praised Belize’s performance, posting:
“ BELIZE LOOKS IMPECCABLE!
The Belize National Team won its third straight game. This time, they defeated Honduras 
93 to 47 and, undefeated, now await their opponent for the men’s basketball semifinals.”
The Belize Basketball Federation added:
“Belize closes as group leader with a 3-0 record. Sets focus on the semifinal round.”
