The defeat marked a tough moment for Belize, who returned to the semifinals for the first time in 28 years. Nicaragua, meanwhile, celebrated their first podium qualification since 1990 and will now battle Costa Rica for gold.
Belize entered the semifinal with momentum after a strong group-stage campaign and a historic 3–1 quarterfinal win over El Salvador, powered by Kaelen Ingram’s 22 points and Francis Hauze’s 21. But against Nicaragua, the Belizean squad struggled to break through a disciplined defense and consistent attack. All three sets followed a similar pattern, with Nicaragua maintaining a narrow lead and closing each frame with precision.
Belize will now turn their attention to Panama, who fell to Costa Rica in the other semifinal. The bronze medal match promises to be a spirited contest, as both teams aim to finish the tournament on a high note.
Let’s rally behind our team as they fight for a place on the podium. Go, Belize!
