Belize earned their historic berth with a commanding 3–1 victory over El Salvador on Sunday night (23–25, 25–21, 25–16, 25–18), securing second place in Group B behind Costa Rica. The win capped a strong group-stage campaign that began with a 3–0 sweep of Honduras (25–23, 25–20, 25–19) and included a hard-fought 0–3 loss to Costa Rica (13–25, 22–25, 12–25).
Monday night after 8:00 pm, Belize will face Group A winners Nicaragua at the Gimnasio Teodoro Palacios Flores in Guatemala City. Nicaragua topped their group with wins over Panama and Guatemala, showcasing a balanced attack and disciplined defense.

Belize’s semifinal run has been powered by standout performances from Kaelen Ingram, Francis Hauze, Eleazar Mejía, and Kyron Sutherland. Ingram and Hauze led the scoring against El Salvador with 22 and 21 points respectively, while Mejía and Sutherland anchored the net and service line. Statistically, Belize outmatched El Salvador in attacking (58–52), blocking (11–10), and serving (7–0), while keeping errors to a minimum.
“Having both our national teams reach the final rounds is a major step forward,” said Head Coach Albert Humes, referencing the Belize Women’s Team’s simultaneous semifinal qualification. “Our players showed grit and unity. They gave everything for Belize.”
Ingram added, “We played with heart. The energy was ours from the start. We trusted each other and that belief carried us through.”
Costa Rica, who topped Group B, will face Panama in the other men’s semifinal which was slated to start at 6:00 pm, but is delayed as Guatemala and El Salvador are still playing the fifth place game.
With momentum and national pride on their side, Belize now aim to turn history into triumph. Let’s go, Belize!
