By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s Men’s National Basketball Team continued their commanding run at the XII Juegos Centroamericanos Guatemala 2025, overpowering hosts Guatemala 72–43 on Sunday night at the Gimnasio Nacional Teodoro Palacios Flores in Guatemala City.
The emphatic victory marks Belize’s second consecutive win in Group B, following Saturday’s 83–68 triumph over El Salvador. With two wins under their belt, Team Belize now sit atop their group and are poised to secure a semifinal berth with a win over Honduras on Monday at 3:00 pm.
Sunday’s performance was powered by standout contributions across the roster. Devin Moody led all scorers with 19 points, while Tevaughan Dawson added 14. Jason Orosco chipped in 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, and Ian Parham netted 11 while dominating the boards with 12 rebounds. Moody and Meschach Flowers each grabbed seven rebounds, helping Belize control the paint and limit Guatemala’s second-chance opportunities.
Grouped with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, Belize have displayed high-tempo, disciplined basketball, blending aggressive defense with fluid offensive execution. Sunday’s matchup saw Belize take early control, silencing the home crowd with a relentless pace and sharp shooting. The 29-point margin reflected Belize’s dominance and growing confidence as they edge closer to the medal rounds.
