Belize’s canoeing campaign at the XII Central American Games concluded with a fourth medal on Sunday afternoon, as Andres Cabb powered to bronze in the Men’s K1 1000m Canoe Sprint on Lake Petén Itzá in Flores, Guatemala. With Cabb’s bronze, Belize’s overall medal tally at the Central American Games now stands at eight.

Cabb’s solo performance adds to an already historic run for Belizean paddlers, who have now earned four medals — one silver and three bronze — from six events. With canoeing now accounting for half of Belize’s total medal count, the sport has firmly established itself as the country’s most successful discipline at the Games.

Earlier on Sunday, Cabb teamed up with Cristian Lopez to win silver in the Men’s K2 1000m, marking Belize’s highest canoeing finish to date. On Saturday, Lopez had already secured bronze in the Men’s K1 200m sprint with a time of 44.33 seconds, while Ruth Cruz and Francisca Cruz-Pfaender earned bronze in the Women’s K2 500m — Belize’s first-ever international canoeing medal at a regional games — with a time of 2:37.54.
Both Cruz and Cruz-Pfaender also competed individually, narrowly missing the podium in their respective solo events: Cruz-Pfaender placed fourth in the Women’s K1 200m on Saturday, and Ruth Cruz finished fourth in the Women’s K1 500m on Sunday.
