Caye Caulker doctor scammed: Car salesman accused of failing to deliver Ford Ranger after receiving $65,000

By Aaron Humes: A Caye Caulker, Belize District-based doctor says he hasn’t gotten his promised Ford Ranger truck from a Belize City auto sales company and has reported it to police.

According to the Doctor, in April of 2023 he visited the company and spoke to its sales manager, agreeing to buy a 2020 Ford Ranger XLT for $65,000. He initially deposited $35,000 to an Atlantic Bank account and then paid the remainder in person two days later and obtained a receipt. However, the manager told him that the vehicle had some minor mechanical issues to be fixed, delaying the transferal into the Doctor’s name.

However, subsequent efforts to contact the manager turned up empty and the Doctor has neither vehicle nor his money. Police are now looking for the sales manager pending further investigation.
