By Aaron Humes: 45-year-old Jun Ming Zhao of Caye Caulker has been charged with use of deadly means of harm and wounding in connection with a shooting last Monday, in which he is alleged to have shot the common-law partner of his ex-wife in the leg.
Per Staff Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, the incident “occurred at the Enjoy Hotel, which is located on Passero street in Caye Caulker. What the investigators have gathered so far is that it is alleged that Zhao went to that property and produced his licensed firearm and fired a single shot to the leg of [the victim], Chen. Chen was escorted to the hospital for treatment, where the doctor classified his injury as wounding, and Zhao was later apprehended by the police.”
As for motive, ASP Smith added, “What we know so far is that the injured [man] is in a common-law relationship with the ex-wife of the [accused].”
