Caught in the Act: Burglars flee Brodie’s as guards converge

Posted: Sunday, April 14, 2024. 12:52 pm CST.

By Horace Palacio: An attempted burglary of the warehouse at Brodie’s Store, located at 3 Mile Philip Goldson Highway, was thwarted early Sunday morning on April 14th, 2024.

At approximately 3:24 am, security personnel were alerted to a triggered alarm at the store. A Belizean security guard working undercover at the store and a uniformed KBH security guard responded to the warehouse area. They were reportedly coming from different directions when one of the guards spotted a group of six men dressed in dark clothing. Upon being discovered, the men fled from the warehouse into a nearby lot leading towards the sea.

Authorities discovered evidence that the suspects had forced open a burglar bar gate and created a hole in the chain-link fence to gain access to the property. However, they were unable to enter the main warehouse building. No items were reported stolen.

A search of the area produced no suspects and no additional information. Police photographed the scene and are continuing their investigation.
