By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a road traffic accident that occurred on Saturday evening, November 8, 2025, between Miles 48 and 49 on the Philip Goldson Highway, near Carmelita Village in the Orange Walk District.
Upon arrival, police observed a silver 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV and a black 2025 Lifan motorcycle with visible damages. The SUV, belonging to Pancho’s Limited, had a damaged front grill and bumper, while the motorcycle suffered a broken mudguard and other minor damages.
Investigations revealed that the SUV was being driven by a 53-year-old sales representative from Pancho’s Auto Rental, traveling from Belize City toward Orange Walk Town. The motorcycle was being driven by a 21-year-old woman from Carmelita Village, who reportedly does not hold a valid driver’s license.
Police say the accident occurred when the motorcyclist made a left turn without signaling, causing the SUV driver to swerve into the opposite lane in an attempt to avoid collision, but still struck the motorcycle’s rear end.
The impact caused the rider to fall onto the pavement, suffering scrapes to her face, elbow, and knee. She was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
A notice of intended prosecution was issued to the SUV driver, who accepted fault. Both the motorcyclist and the motorcycle owner were warned for summons for multiple offences, including driving without a license and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle.
Police continue to investigate the matter.
