

Cuban dancer, choreographer, and educator Carlos Acosta—founder and artistic director of Acosta Danza—presents his new adaptation of Carmen. He recently announced that his epic version of Carmen will be on tour across the United Kingdom in Spring 2026. He writes, “This work is very special to me, and I can’t wait to see [my dancers] bring their Cuban flair to this classic story.”
Musicals on Tour describes:
Created by Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta, this version of Carmen is set to Rodion Shchedrin’s orchestration of Bizet’s opera score, injected with Cuban music and danced by Acosta’s impressive Havana-based company.
A flamenco-Cuban-ballet contemporary mashup bursting with energy and inventive choreography.
Carlos’ take on the classic and powerful opera, lays bare the story’s universal and timeless themes, in a sparse and powerful setting.
