Central to the review are major infrastructure initiatives, including the 6th Road (Coastal Highway Project), Phillip Goldson Highway, and the 8th Road Project, with presentations from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing outlining progress and future plans.
A significant portion of today’s discussions centered on climate finance, with CDB experts highlighting funding opportunities and strategies to bolster Belize’s resilience to climate change.
Key topics included the implementation of climate-related projects, such as the development of multi-hazard impact-based forecasting and early warning systems for the Belize River Watershed.
Belize Water Services (BWS) also provided updates on the Third Water Project, focusing on advancements in water infrastructure and sustainability efforts.
Additional sessions covered procurement, fiduciary matters, environmental and social safeguards, and initiatives aimed at improving road safety.
The review underscores the CDB’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and ensuring that climate finance strategies align with Belize’s sustainable development goals, supporting both infrastructure development and environmental resilience.
