
Today (May 7, 2026) was the opening of the 8th edition of the Lausanne Art Fair (8e Foire internationale d’art contemporain). The fair— which runs through Sunday, May 10th— is located in Beaulieu Lausanne, Avenue Bergières 10, 1004 Lausanne, Switzerland. Presented by Yonde Art, Caribbean artists featured at the fair this year are Chantaléa Commin, Ronald Cyrille (whose work is shown above), Jocelyn Akwaba Matignon, and R-M Roquelaure.
Chantaléa Commin: Born in Guadeloupe in 1971, Chantaléa Commin pursued studies in Aesthetics, literature and experimental cinema at Paris I-Sorbonne. Works in national education and publishing in Paris, collaborating in artistic events since 1993 in Bagneux, a writing and filming residency in Casamance in 2005 … Returned to Guadeloupe, Art is her full-time job with the rôle of mother, she lives by and for the visual arts. In recent years, she has exhibited in collective and solo settings. [. . .]
Ronald Cyrille: From Guadeloupe/Dominica, artist Ronald Cyrille livesand works in Guadeloupe, where he practices painting, street art, sculpture, drawing, performance and other artwork. Ronald Cyrille is a Caribbean visual artist also known as B. Bird for his mural work. His artistic creations are deeply influenced by his roots and history, as well as the Caribbean world in which he lives. He draws inspiration from this background to fuel his imagination and explore his own obsessions, often considered his unconscious. In his work, he combines figures and elements from a real and imagined bestiary, which often take on symbolic and meaningful forms. [. . .]
Jocelyn Akwaba Matignon: Artist Painter living in Guadeloupe, born in 1961, titular of the Higher National Diploma of Visual Art, Jocelyn Akwaba Matignon researches the multiple facets of his origins. His triangular course (Europe-Africa-America) is a quest of the Being, research and permanent questioning of the magic of the world and the mystery of life. [. . .]
R-M Roquelaure: He is a painter and graphic designer originally from Guadeloupe. He continued his studies at the Regional Institute of Visual Arts in Martinique, where he earned a national diploma in arts and technology with a specialization in graphic design. [. . .]
