By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) is holding the National Stakeholder Seminar and Market Fair on Wednesday, December 6 at the CARDICompound in Central Farm in the Cayo District.
The activities started at 9:00 am and run until 3:00 pm.
Wednesday’s event follows up on CARDI Day celebrated on Tuesday, December 5. This year, CARDI Day focused on youth training at its Unit in Central Farm.
On Tuesday, Roberto Can made a presentation on hot pepper fertility management. Martin Lindo focused on peanut harvest and storage management. Cardi representative Omaira Avila and Derek Spain spoke about how to store and manage seeds, grains, and cereals. Kira Lopez concentrated on how to produce sweet potatoes. The CARDI/ITC Coconut Project representative Edgar White looked at improvements in Belize ‘s coconut value chain from plant to product. White also presented on the use of Metarhizium as a biological control in various crops, especially coconut.
