By Aaron Humes: Community members will come together tonight for a candlelight vigil to celebrate the life of Kenneth “Big Tom” Flowers, a former street figure known for his efforts to promote peace and positivity in the community.
The vigil will take place at 7:00 p.m., just a stone’s throw from his family home near the Civic Center, drawing friends, family, and supporters who want to pay their respects.
Flowers, 47, was killed late Monday afternoon when a gunman opened fire at the vehicle he was driving.
He was acquitted of murder in 2002 in Belize and in 2010 in the United States after being shot in an unrelated incident there earlier that year. He would be deported to Belize where he continued to support artists in the music business but still occasionally running afoul of the law.
