By Aaron Humes: Foul play is not suspected by Belize police in the death of Thomas David Harmon, a Canadian national whose catamaran drifted into Belizean waters last week. His wife made a distress call to a passing cruise ship, suspecting that her husband had died from a heart attack.
On Monday, ASP Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer, detailed that an autopsy of Harmon’s body concluded that “he died as a consequence of multiple blunt force traumatic injuries due to a fall from height.”
ASP Smith added that it was not immediately clear how or why Harmon fell, but police have the relevant evidential material for Canadian authorities to conduct further investigations if needed, as the matter is out of Belize’s jurisdiction.
