By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police Street resident Cameron Williams, 21, experienced a brief moment of freedom before being re-arrested under State of Emergency (SOE) regulations. Williams, who appeared in court on Tuesday and was granted bail of $5,000 for contempt of judicial order and gang membership, was swiftly taken back into custody.
Despite the bail conditions, police informed Williams that he was a person of interest under the SOE, which was declared two weeks ago in parts of Belize City and the Cayo District. Consequently, before Williams could be processed for release, he was taken away by officers from the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
This re-arrest means Williams, previously remanded on May 8, 2024, will spend another 90 days in detention.
