By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Youth from across northern Belize showcased their athletic talents during the Northern Regional Cadet Sports Day held at the People’s Stadium on Saturday.
The event brought together 180 cadets from Orange Walk and Corozal in a spirit of friendly competition and unity. Organized by the Orange Walk Community Oriented Police Unit, the initiative aimed to promote discipline, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among young participants.
Competitions included track and field races, volleyball, basketball, and football. Notable performances came from athletes such as Katherine Neal, Jeiner Montero, Ayame Chable, and Brendon Locario, who secured top placements in their respective races.
In team sports, Orange Walk emerged victorious in football and basketball, while Corozal took first place in volleyball. Relay races saw both districts sharing victories.
The event was made possible through collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including the Department of Youth Services, NDACC, the Orange Walk Sports Council, and local community leaders. Town Councilor Joesie Cantun and Honorable Ramon Cervantes were also acknowledged for their contributions, including the donation of trophies.
Police officials emphasized the importance of such initiatives in guiding youth toward positive pathways and strengthening community relationships.
The day concluded on a high note, with organizers reporting a safe and successful event free of any injuries.
