Cabinet welcomed the initial report from the Ministry of Finance on the many Belizeans who took advantage of the first tax-free weekend for Christmas shopping.
They encouraged Belizeans to take advantage of the second tax-free weekend due on the 20th and 21st December, just days before Christmas.
Financial Secretary Joseph Waight estimated the Government’s losses at about $5 million for those weeks when general sales tax (GST) is not paid on most goods.
