By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating an armed robbery in Belize City that left a 67-year-old businessman injured on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. at Handy Money Loans on Handyside Street.
Police said the suspect entered the establishment under the pretense of pawning a cellphone before producing a firearm and demanding money.
The robber reportedly fled with approximately $80 in cash after firing a single shot at the businessman, Miguel Angel Guerra.
Guerra was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
Police investigations continue.
