By Breaking Belize News Staff: Businessman Kris Rosado is scheduled to be arraigned in the High Court on June 9, 2026, on a single charge of causing death by careless conduct in connection with the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Police Officer Arsenio Cus.
Rosado appeared before Justice Derick Sylvester on Wednesday morning for his first High Court appearance since being committed to stand trial in the matter. He was unrepresented in court but informed Justice Sylvester that he is being represented by attorney Dr. Lynden Jones.
Rosado was initially committed from the lower court on a charge of manslaughter by negligence following a preliminary inquiry. However, the charge was changed on indictment on April 8, 2026, from manslaughter by negligence to causing death by careless conduct.
The case stems from a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on July 28, 2025, on the Phillip Goldson Highway, resulting in the death of Police Officer Cus.
Justice Sylvester explained the High Court procedure to Rosado and informed him that his attorney must be present at the next hearing, when he will be asked to enter a plea for the first time before the High Court.
Rosado, who is the owner of Thirsty Thursday on New Town Barracks in Belize City, had his bail of $6,000 plus two sureties of $3,000 further extended.
His next court date is set for June 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
