Businessman Khris Rosado charged for fatal knockdown of Police officer Arcenio Cus on highway

By Aaron Humes: Today, Tuesday, Police formally arrested and charged a Ladyville, Belize District businessman in connection with the death by hit-and-run of Police Constable Arcenio Cus, 38, on July 28.

Khris Rosado, 34, faces charges of manslaughter by negligence; causing death by careless conduct; driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention; failure to stop and render aid; and failure to report an accident.

On Monday, July 28, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Ladyville Police received information regarding a fatal road traffic accident between Miles 6 and 7 on the Phillip Goldson Highway. At the scene officers found Cus, originally of Silver Creek Village, Toledo District, motionless on the highway. Initial investigations revealed that PC Cus was traveling from Ladyville toward Belize City on a black motorcycle.

Later that day, Rosado voluntarily presented himself to the Ladyville Police Station but refused to cooperate with the investigation.

The subsequent investigation, and all the evidence gathered was sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for further instructions on October 10; 31 days later, Police received instructions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to charge Khris Rosado for the death of Arcenio Cus.
