By Breaking Belize News Staff: Joshua Moses Ashburn, a businessman from Western Avenue, and his wife, Xochil Natali Lopez, have both been granted bail after facing multiple criminal charges.
Ashburn met his bail conditions last week, while Lopez secured hers on Friday, December 6, 2024. The couple was granted High Court bail by Justice Rafael Morgan, each in the sum of $15,000 with three sureties of $5,000 each. The bail conditions, secured through their attorney, Hurl Hamilton, include stringent measures to ensure compliance.
Ashburn’s legal troubles deepened on December 6, 2024, when he was hit with nine additional indictable charges, including five counts of possession of false documents and four counts of preparation of a crime. He was granted $5,000 bail for these new charges in Court #6.
In late November, Ashburn, alongside Mario Fernandez and Keenan O’Connor, was jointly charged with serious offenses, including possession of a prohibited firearm, ammunition, and large quantities of cannabis. Days later, Lopez was also charged and remanded.
The four accused are scheduled to appear together in Court #6 on January 20, 2025, marking their first joint appearance since the charges were filed. Ashburn faced additional challenges in meeting bail due to a requirement for five Belizean sureties.
