By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an incident involving an exchange of gunfire between the assistant manager of Quality Poultry Products on Ambergris Caye and three men, one of whom was armed, who appeared to be ‘casing’ the premises in advance of a potential robbery.
According to police, on Sunday evening, the assistant manager went to his workplace on Mangrove Drive, Boca del Rio area, to begin preparing orders for today, Monday. He spied three individuals at a shed across from the premises, and as the shutters were going up, two of the men advanced, including the armed man.
The assistant manager said he was carrying his licensed firearm, and he took it out and fired off 4 shots, causing the men to retreat. They came forward again shortly thereafter, and he fired off another five shots, causing the men to give up and flee.
One person has been detained, and police investigations continue.
