By Aaron Humes: Early this Friday morning, a Belize City resident reported a burglary at his home on Victoria Street. The complainant discovered that his room had been targeted by thieves, with a range of valuable items stolen.
Police were told that the break-in occurred between 3:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Entry into his lower flat room was gained by forcefully breaking the padlocks on the front door. Among the stolen items were a 32-inch black flatscreen TV valued at $565, a grey Samsung A05 smartphone worth $465, and two motorcycle helmets, each priced at $35, bringing a total loss of approximately $1,100.
In addition to the burglary, Hyde also reported damage to his motorcycle, a black Lifan 125, which was found lying on the ground in his yard. The damage included a broken right rearview mirror valued at $10, a front body kit worth $350, a basket priced at $35, and a damaged button start costing $250, totaling $645 in damages.
Police are investigating.
