By Horace Palacio: On Thursday, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) hosted two major events—the Building on Our Momentum (B.O.O.M.) Forum and the Belize Airlift Development Conference—at the Belize Civic Center, signaling a strong and strategic push to position Belize as a forward-thinking, accessible, and resilient tourism destination.
Over 200 tourism stakeholders, business leaders, and government officials gathered to hear from industry experts and global partners about the future of Belize’s travel industry. In his opening remarks, BTB Board Chairman Dr. Vincent Palacio encouraged stakeholders to embrace innovation and sustainable growth. The energy remained high throughout the event as keynote speaker Seth Borko, Head of Research at Skift, along with partners from Development Counsellors International, The Zimmerman Agency, GlobActive, and TM Americas, shared cutting-edge insights and actionable trends.
Among the biggest announcements was the unveiling of three initiatives set to shape Belize’s tourism strategy through 2026: the Grab Life Coach, the No Barriers 2.0 Campaign, and a redesigned Travel Belize website. The message was clear—Belize is leaning into transformation and looking to empower its industry through collaboration and fresh perspectives.
The afternoon session shifted focus to air connectivity at the Airlift Development Conference, where aviation leaders from Air Transat, Spirit Airlines, Copa Airlines, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Cayman Airways, Tropic Air, and Altura Aviation shared updates and expressed support for deeper partnerships with Belize.
Director of Tourism Evan Tillett emphasized the importance of strategic airlift agreements, stating, “Expanding our regional and international air connections is essential to making Belize more accessible and competitive on the global stage.”
The BTB thanked sponsors including Bowen and Bowen, DigiBusiness, MADISCO, COURTS, Travellers Liquors Ltd., the Belize Recycling and Waste Management Association, and the Ministry of Tourism.
With momentum on its side, Belize’s tourism industry is setting the stage for a bold and collaborative 2025 and beyond.
