By Aaron Humes: In a dramatic turn of events, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams expressed his unwavering love for his brother, Arthur Roy Williams, also known as “Uncle,” during an interview outside the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. The court proceedings culminated in the withdrawal of all charges against “Uncle,” marking a significant reconciliation between the siblings.
“Arthur Roy is my brother, we came from the same woman. Yes, there may have been misunderstandings in the past, but I believe as family we should be able to work out our issues and so [he] and I spoke about this issue and we decided it was best to end it this way rather go through a court process,” the Commissioner said, adding that no court-appointed mediation was necessary.
“It is what it is,” Arthur briefly and comically added.
This afternoon, Head of Prosecution Branch, Alifah Elrington, informed the court that her office would no longer pursue the case against Arthur Roy Williams due to the brothers’ agreement.
“I love my brother,” COMPOL stated, underscoring their commitment to family amid legal troubles. The Senior Magistrate presiding closed the case with a warning to “Uncle” about the seriousness of their agreement. “Take this as a fresh start,” the magistrate advised. “Keep within your agreement, or you could find yourself facing charges again.”
On February 7, 2024, Arthur Williams was charged with two counts of using a computer system to disseminate false statements and one count of intimidation under the Cyber Crime Act, which he initially pleaded not guilty to. The situation escalated with an additional contempt of court charge in July 2024 for violating a judicial order by making further harmful social media posts.
The Commissioner has two other outstanding cases against Nicole McDonald and Police officer Barrington Mai, alias Barry Flowers, both initiated earlier this year.
