By Aaron Humes: A British national died alone at his residence sometime before Monday, March 4, police say.
At about 1:00 pm on Monday, acting upon information received of a decomposed body, Independence Police visited the Lester Richard Extension Area, Independence Village, Stann Creek District, in a white cement bungalow house and observed the motionless body of a Caucasian man dressed in white and blue boxers lying on the left side of the body on a bed in a pool of blood in an advance state of decomposition.
The man was identified as Ian Geoffrey Poole Sumner, 52, an Independence Village, Stann Creek District resident. The body was initially discovered and identified by his landlord, a Guatemalan.
No sign of forced entry was observed on the building. Neighbours were interviewed, and no helpful information was obtained. The body of Ian Geoffrey Poole Sumner was transported to the morgue at the National Forensic Science Services and now awaits a post-mortem examination. Police investigations continue.
