By Zoila Palma: The British High Commission in Belmopan hosted a special reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Charles.
The event hosted last night brought together a distinguished gathering, including Governor General Froyla Tzalam, government ministers and CEOs, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from academia, and other notable guests.
In his remarks, British High Commissioner Alistair White reflected on the enduring friendship between the United Kingdom and Belize.
He also congratulated returning Belizean scholars who had completed studies under UK programs.
“We look for the commitment from these scholars to come back to Belize and take these new skills and their leadership abilities and contribute to the development of Belize,” White said.
White further expressed his appreciation for the warmth and hospitality of the Belizean people, sharing anecdotes from his time exploring the country’s natural beauty. “I know how lucky I am to be here, to already have had so many opportunities to dive in your reefs and see the sharks and turtles so close,” he added.
The event served as both a celebration of the monarch’s birthday and a reaffirmation of the strong and friendly ties between Belize and the United Kingdom.
