By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident has been reported once more in Belize City.
This evening, Thursday, there was a reported shooting behind the Racoon Street Police Station on Iguana Street.
Police have identified the victim as 18-year-old Shemar Smith of Antelope Street. He was seen with an apparent gunshot wound to the right side of the abdomen and to the right foot.
Initial investigation reveals that Shemar Smith was walking on Iguana Street and upon reaching by the football field he was approached by a man of dark complexion dressed in grey clothing who came running from behind him and began firing shots towards him. Smith immediately ran to Dolphin Street, then to Raccoon Street into the Police Station compound where he collapsed. Shemar Smith was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
A police investigation is underway.
