By Aaron Humes: Today it was the turn of Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa to face the hot seat regarding the Joseph Budna investigation.
The report demanded by the Prime Minister yesterday should be completed by 4 p.m. this evening as Commissioner of Police Dr Richard Rosado is on his way back from a conference in Taiwan.
The Minister said he had recommended a further independent investigation to the Prime Minister who has the final say, as there are more questions than answers at this time. Video released on Wednesday by Channel 7 News shows a police officer going over to the vehicle and then apparently being told to leave, but Musa says he does not know for sure who the men that officer spoke to are and what is their connection, if any, to the Police Department.
The Commissioner’s statement that no police officer was involved in the incident has been clarified to reflect that there was no official involvement or sanction, leaving the possibility of “rogue” officers being behind the abduction. Likewise, Musa denied any official state sanction of the abduction.
Musa added that he does not have access to what investigators may have by way of evidence but that once the report gets to the Prime Minister, all will hopefully be revealed.
